Review: MicControl reviews Strange Sugar

The nice people at MicControl got their hands on a copy of Strange Sugar and wrote a lovely review of it.

Dark gypsy folk is one way to describe the UK-based all-female group Invocal. Though that description only scratches the surface. A more accurate description is dark, theatrical, all-female gypsy folk that is provocative and humorous in nature, yet is brilliantly composed and arranged. Each piece is its own theatrical performance in its entirety. While the four members of the band can certainly combine their efforts to create breathtaking four-part harmonies, much of the arranging gives each voice its own personality. It is this style combined with the humorous lyrics that allows for playful banter and conversation throughout the music….
