Invocal are an all female acoustic act that perform with cello, guitar and harmonious voices. Their unique sound has been described as having "dark gypsy folk tugging from one side and an an all out west end musical tugging from another". The songs tell tales of modern life with caustic and bawdy humour, powerful and moving lyrics and (most days) expert musical prowess.
The band have performed together for over six years and have toured the UK, France, Germany and republic of Ireland. They enjoy playing events such as Cambridge Folk Fesival, London Pride, Brighton Pride, an array of cool small folk festivals, theatres, dodgy bars and playhouses. 2006 saw the release of their debut full length album, Uneven Keel . This received excellent reviews in the gay press and on the UK folk/acoustic scene, reviewers favouring their restless musical arrangements, heartfelt honesty, wicked wit and genuine originality.
To accompany the album's release, the band embarked upon their first major uk tour. This was quite a revelation as it proved that they were able to spend extended periods of time on the road together without actually killing each other. A happy discovery that saw several Northampton bookmakers laughing all the way to the bank.
In 2009 Invocal have released their second full length ALBUM, and continue travelling around the country performing new and classic material to their ever growing fanbase. The launch of the album was an awesome sell out show and has left the band excited for what 09 will bring, despite the edge of sadness of Sarah Moloney leaving to concentrate on babyness
The jaw-droppingly powerful" new ALBUM was recorded at , Fitdog Studios Northamptonshire. I ve Tried Saying No to the Slugs can be bought RIGHT HERE , right now.
